Kayakasia
probably started as an idea when Huey and Chan completed their paddle from Singapore to Bangkok.

"What are you going to do after this?", asked Dr Sint, who was there to receive us.

This expedition, along the eastern coast of Malaysia and Thailand, had changed their lives.

"Please share this experience. Don't let it go to waste." It was Dr Sint's advice that stuck to my mind.

They created kayakasia.org and wrote down the stories of their first expedition. Later they embarked on many more kayak expeditions around southeast asia, paddling thousands of kilometers of its coastlines and waterways.

Over the years, other like-minded souls joined them in exploring southeast asia by kayaks. It is a gathering spirit.

I believed there were other pioneers paddling and exploring the waterways of southeast asia. This website is also dedicated to all these free-spirited adventurers.

If there is anything kayakasia.org seeks, it is to experience Southeast Asia as it is - the people, the culture, the vast archipelagos, thousands flowing rivers - with a kayak.

Paddling is wonderful. With your own power, curiosity, humour, without strictures of time and place - all these and borrowing from our planet less than three inches of water at any one place.

If kayakasia.org can get more people on our waters, it would be beyond its wildest dreams. For it is my belief that with each new paddler, southeast asia and its waterways will be appreciated more.

See you on the water someday.

- Huey
